Covid-19 Response
March 16, 2017
Brothers & Sisters,
As we continue to read about the advance of Covid-19, it is clear that this is a serious pandemic. Latest recommendations on gathering is that we not gather in groups of over 50, those who are feeling unwell are to stay at home, and for people over 60 or those who are ill to do the same. Along with this information and Governor Reynolds asking schools to be closed for up to four weeks the Bethany Lutheran Church Council and I have decided on the steps below as precautions to help take our part in this pandemic preperations.
All Bible studies, circles, and non-essential meetings are to be postponed until a later date. All Wednesday night Lenten activities are canceled until further notice. This includes Confirmation, Purpose Driven Life video and book study. Saturday night worship service and Sunday School is canceled until further notice. We ask that only those who are needed for live-streaming come for worship at 9:00 am on Sundays. This includes sound/video people, Readers (if you are comfortable) and musicians. We ask that all others stay home and worship online. Later today I will be meeting with sound people to get our live-streaming working properly. Also, on Sunday the Iowa Falls Ministerial Association has canceled Lenten lunches for the rest of the year.
Concerning the Pork Loin Dinner, chances are high that we are going to do carry-out and delivery only, and/or possibly postpone until mid-May. We will keep you updated as the situation warrants.
If you are elderly or immune compromised and need help in getting medicine, groceries, or other supplies, please call the church office at 641-641-3555. We have people waiting to help you. If you would like to join the help team please call the church office.
We do pray that these precautions turn out to be unnecessary. They are wise precautions, however, as the last thing we want is for any of our members or friends to contract Covid-19. Please continue to pray for areas in our country and around the world that are most severely impacted by this Coronavirus and all who have this virus. You are in our prayers as we go through this time.
